We used Janie for both dog sitting and her training course.

When we moved apartments, our Goldendoodle was acting very aggressive towards strangers. We got in touch with Janie and began the process. The course was thoughtfully constructed in segments. Janie also provided many pages of information for us to learn techniques and information on dog behavior. During the course Janie was very patient, caring, and always went the extra mile. She seemed really committed to helping our puppy and us!

Janie was so great with Luna that we opted also to use her Pet Sitting services when we travel. One of the best things is that Janie never fails to send pictures and long updates about our dog’s day everyday while we are traveling — it is a big reassurance to have that transparency.

In short, Janie is fantastic with dogs, very knowledgeable, and she is always very professional in her business!

Janie came into our family’s life at a time when we needed someone trustworthy and dependable to take care of our sweet Beau, and someone who could be flexible enough to handle our changing travel schedules. She instantly became one of Beau’s favorite people, and we were so happy he had a fun, safe and reliable caretaker. A few years ago, we were able to utilize Janie’s dog training experience to help Beau to be a less-exuberant door greeter and to be more polite on a leash, among other things, and she was wonderful. Her training skills, along with the relationship she established with Beau, helped him be even more of a great dog for our family!

Unfortunately, Beau suddenly passed a few years ago. All of us, along with Janie, were devastated. They truly had a bond. Our family decided to welcome another sweet Golden into our home - Tate - and he immediately took to Janie like they had known each other forever!! Love at first sight for both of them! Janie has given Tate the same love and affection as Beau, and we couldn’t be happier that Tate has someone so caring in his life.

We know that when we need to travel, Janie’s going to be available to give Tate an adventurous time, along with a lot of exercise, love, affection and silliness. She’s enlightened our family about the importance of mental stimulation and enrichment for any dog, and to allow our Tate to sniff around outside to his heart’s content, all of which has made him calmer and happier. Our family is so happy Janie is available to take care of Tate! We love the regular text updates and photos we get of Tate’s adventures - we know exactly how each day goes with him! We know he’s in the best hands and in the best possible environment every time they are together!

She’s obsessed with Tate’s safety and won’t ever put him in a situation where he’ll be hurt, injured, become sick, or even become stressed. We know that whenever we return, he’ll be happy, healthy, tired and he will have had the time of his life while being cared for by Janie! He knows it too - he gets insanely happy when she arrives! I have and will continue to recommend Janie to my friends and anyone I come across who needs a responsible, reliable, knowledgeable, dependable, affordable and fun dog trainer and sitter!

“I highly recommend Janie as a dog trainer! She gave our family all the tools we need to train our very energetic Swissy and keep our newborn baby safe. She taught us about dog body language so we know when our Fiona might be getting stressed, which could affect her behavior. I loved that her program was customized to our needs, and she was flexible with our busy schedule. If you follow her program, you can train your dog without inflicting any pain – no prong or shock collars needed! We also appreciated that she not only worked with us in our home, but also in our yard, in a local park, and in our busy town! Janie ensured us that, should we have any questions or issues with Fiona, we can communicate with her at any time, or have additional lessons that were included in our training program. We loved working with her, as we know she is going to help us with whatever we need going forward!

“As we are retired and travel frequently, finding a loving, high-quality sitter to take care of our Derby was extremely important to us.  Janie Vogel has been the answer to a prayer!  Her experience and credentials are impeccable and we feel confident to leave him in her care.

Janie was recommended to us by a friend who has equally high standards for her dog.  Following an initial phone call, I was sent a very detailed questionnaire about our pet.  This need to thoroughly understand everything about our dog exemplifies Janie’s genuine desire to know and provide safe, loving care for those in her keeping.  After an introductory visit, Janie cared for Derby many l times.

It is no exaggeration to say that he LOVES her!  Her genuine love for animals is evident, and she has a definite connection to our sweet boy.  Janie provides a variety of experiences and I know that he is well exercised, played with and happily exhausted at the end of each day!  We receive daily texts with updates on Derby’s day, which we love!

Janie’s experience and training give us total confidence in having her care for our boy.  She is flexible regarding our schedules and completely reliable.  We leave our fur baby in her care knowing that we will return home to a calm, well-loved, happy boy who cannot wait for her to return!”

“Through the lessons Janie provided, the dynamics of my household have been  transformed! Janie has a keen sense of reading a dog’s character and needs. She then taught me how to better interact with my dogs and how my dogs should properly interact with each other, making our lives much more enjoyable!!

Janie has also taken care of my dogs while I am away. She filled their days with walks and fun activities. Knowing my dogs were being well cared for made my vacation all the more enjoyable!”

“Our dog Barley is so excited when Janie comes to our home to care for him. We have depended on her for daily walks & play and overnight care when we are away from home. Janie is dependable, careful, trustworthy and well trained to care for dogs. She is truly a “dog person.” I know Barley is in good hands because we return to a happy and healthy puppy. I highly recommend Janie.”

“If your dog gets stressed out when you are away traveling, work... Janie is a great resource for all aspects of care for your pet. Our dog, Charlie, a 3-year-old Bernese Mountain Dog, took to Janie right away. It was home away from home for her, especially, with the fenced-in back yard and mind-stimulating games Janie likes to entertain her doggie guests with. I have absolutely no worries when I travel now. I am confident that she is well taken care of, and if something unexpected were to happen I would get a call. Janie offers professional, caring, loving service for your pet while you are away.”

“Our dog Sydney is a part of our family. What we appreciate about Janie is not just her obvious love for animals, but her professional approach. Janie has been a life saver helping us care for Sydney for a day or a week. Janie gives us great peace of mind when we are gone, and we would highly recommend her services.”

As the owners of 2 high-energy, intelligent, herding breeds dogs, Janie has helped us understand how to work with our Gracie and Dash, what to manage and ways to train them both using positive reinforcement. One of the key things Janie stresses, and what we always remind ourselves—it’s not a matter of getting our dogs to STOP doing a certain act, whether it’s jumping, barking, reacting, etc., but instead to get them to do what you want them to do INSTEAD of the unwanted behavior. Janie continues to help us understand that it’s up to us, as owners, to make our dogs successful.

One area she’s helped us with tremendously is introducing us to various ways to enrich our two dogs’ lives, and mentally stimulate them when they are getting bored.  Her tools and instruction have been instrumental in helping both Gracie and Dash have a fun and tiring life, both inside and outside of the house! Janie has worked with us not only with dog sitting and walking Gracie and Dash when we’re out of town, but also with training specifically geared towards our pup. Dash completed Janie’s Polite Canine 101 puppy class with 3 other puppies. This was a 6-week class where we met for 1 hour a week (in rain, sun and even snow!) to go over the basics. At the end, we celebrated “graduation” with pizza (for the puppy parents) and special playtime and treats for the “graduates.” It was all very sweet and thoughtful and a great way to meet other puppy owners, ask questions and practice cues and more in a safe setting.

Before getting our puppy, Dash, Janie recommended we work more intensely with Gracie, our 5-year-old Border Collie-Lab mix, on some of her reactive behaviors. Janie came to our house 1x a week for about 9 weeks to work with Gracie one-on-one. At the end of each lesson, Janie provided us with a review and homework for the week. She always stresses that her training is only as good as our follow-through during the week between her visits. Training is a continuous process. We notice a difference when we lapse a bit. Thankfully we have all of Janie’s thoroughly prepared training plans when we need to review!

Gracie and Dash LOVE Janie! Even with all her fabulous training, they’re always jumping on her when they see her because they know she’s the lady with the awesome treats and that anytime Janie comes around an adventure awaits—whether that’s play time in the backyard, a long-leash walk through one of our many surrounding Metroparks, a swim in Lake Erie or simply play time and cuddles at home.

It’s never easy leaving your dogs when you have to be away from them, but knowing they’re with Janie always makes this separation a little easier for all of us.
